Cover Letter & Resume for:
Michael J. Young, Pastor
10608 Jackson Square Drive, Estero, Florida 33928
804-436-3689
TO: Pastor Search committee
Dear Friends,
I am including a resume outline (and other pertinent links) and a brief summary of my life’s work history. I am attaching this letter to fill in some details of my conversion experience, my walk with the Lord and my service to Him.
Attended college classes while in the military and at Virginia Commonwealth University after leaving the military. I attended classes at Boyce Bible College, 1991 through 1992.
First served as a Deacon in our Baptist church in 1985. I began serving as a pulpit-fill preacher, itinerant pastor, guest speaker, interim pastor and Evangelist from 1991 through 2000.
Completed Pastoral counseling certification through the Baptist Association in Richmond, Virginia, in 1993.
Our family moved to Whitestone Virginia in 2000 where I served as pastor of discipleship and evangelism.
Planted and established The White Stone Fellowship in White Stone, Virginia in 2006 (our existing members merged with other churches upon my departure).
I continue as director and pastor for White Stone Fellowship. Our ministry and mission is to establish Home Fellowships with the intention of reaching the lost and the straying. I also maintain the ONLINE White Stone Fellowship. (https://whitestone2020.com/ ).
I clearly sense God’s clear call to guard, serve, protect and equip the saints of God and to prepare His Church for Christ’s return.
We, the Body of Christ, must come together and boldly proclaim His message of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, and to model that Godly love in our daily lives.
We must live the example of Christ Jesus, as His disciples, making disciples, without compromise or wavering, and speak the Word of God in love and without fear.

PS: I believe that I have seen what appears to be a reluctance, by a few ‘pastor search committees’, to view my resume and experience favorably, (#1) because of my age, and (#2) because I do not have a master’s degree (or higher).
So, I would like to add, (#1), thanks to God, I have the attitude and energy of a much younger man, and,
#2), my religious academic studies and experience have enabled me to teach with ability using good hermeneutics and proper exegetical skills, and I am able to skillfully use both the Greek and Hebrew languages in teaching and sermon preparations.
(#3), I want to appeal to you, the search committee members, to consider this: “It is not what you know that makes a difference in people’s lives, it is knowing what to do with what you know that makes a difference.” If there was ever a strong point or gift that the Lord has granted me, this is the one.
Additionally, I have had extensive ministerial training and secular training in these matters, years (decades) of practical, effective and successful experience in coming alongside of, ministering to, counseling with and aiding people in making right and Biblical decisions, and how to effectively and successfully apply God’s Word and His Principles to their lives. And, it has made a difference. It makes a difference!
I know how to guide an organization of people, and more specifically, I know God’s plan for His Church, (the children and saints of God), and how to lead and guide.
For the Church, my calling and passion is to Inform the Church (which IS God’s people), to Inspire God’s people, (The Church) and to Ignite God’s people (The Church).
Inform through Bible-based teaching and preaching, using good hermeneutics and proper exegesis and in a way it is understandable, usable and applicable.
Inspire God’s people by allow the Holy Spirit to speak to us through God’s Word with compromise or apology, and to regularly point out that “nothing is impossible with God”.
Ignite God’s people by helping them see the Gifts He has placed within each of us so we can do the Work of God (and as Jesus said), even greater works, which He has prepared ahead of time for us to “walk in”!
We are most likely at a critical time in eschatological history. There are matters which must be carefully, lovingly yet thoroughly addressed. There are Biblical practices and actions that are being neglected and must be implemented, now. Actions that conform and comply with the direct and specific instructions of Jesus. For Example:
We must “love one another. For by this they will know you are my disciples, by your love for one another”.
“Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. “
“So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.”
“All of you be harmonious, sympathetic, loving, compassionate, and humble.”
“Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility consider one another as more important than yourselves.”
“Go. (all of you). Make disciples, baptizing (new believers) in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teaching them to follow all I have taught you, (both by my Words and your behaviors).”
I could go on, but it would take reams of paper. Please believe me when I tell you that I have stored these things in my heart and in my mind. I am ready for action for the kingdom and for your Body of Believers!
(#4), Also, whether as a staff member, interim pastor or in parachurch ministries, there has been always numerical growth in attendance and participation – which, I am certain, comes by lifting the Name and Person of Jesus in conduct, attitude, preaching and teaching of His Word.
Finally, (#5), I want to clearly state that there is no greater joy or satisfaction in my life than to live among Christians, spending time together in fun, fellowship, serving and supporting one another – good times and bad. I love praising God together, and giving myself to equipping, preparing and sending God’s people on the greatest adventure of our lives.
I want our Church to be, in fact, that Light on a Hill in our community, penetrating as far as our city, county, state and nation.
So, I am asking you (search committees, etc.) to consider these things as you review my qualifications. I am here to present Him and to serve Him and His Church. Thank you.
