Being Weighed in the Balance

WE ARE WEIGHED IN THE BALANCE

Daniel 5:27

Don’t be found wanting

I was talking with friends who plainly stated that they would never get the CoronaVirus because they claim a bible verse that says no evil can come near them.

(Additionally, he doesn’t shake hands, his wife wears a protective mask and they practice ‘social distancing’. )

So, which is it? Faith or Wisdom?

Many people are asking these questions, but do they practice Faith or Wisdom?

For example, people ask, “If God is so good, why is there so much evil, pain and suffering in the world”?

Or, “Why does God allow bad things to happen to good people”?

Or, “I love and serve God, so, how could these horrible things happen to me or my family or my loved ones”?

“Where is God’s equity? Where is God’s justice? Where is the balance?”

PLEASE, CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING THOUGHTS AND SCRIPTURES

I. WHERE IS MY SALVATION?

Psalms 34:6

This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him
And saved him out of all his troubles.

7 The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him,
And rescues them.

8 O taste and see that the LORD is good;
How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!

OR

IS THIS A REBUKE FROM GOD?

Proverbs 3:11

My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline,

and do not resent his rebuke,

12 because the Lord disciplines those he loves,

as a father the son he delights in.

IN THE BALANCE

Proverbs 3:12

For whom the LORD loves He reproves,
Even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.

WHERE IS MY DELIVERANCE?

Psalms 34:17

The righteous cry, and the LORD hears
And delivers them out of all their troubles.

18The LORD is near to the brokenhearted
And saves those who are crushed in spirit.

19Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the LORD delivers him out of them all.

OR

WHY THE DISCIPLINE & SCOURGING?

Hebrews 12:5

And you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons,
“MY SON, DO NOT REGARD LIGHTLY THE DISCIPLINE OF THE LORD,
NOR FAINT WHEN YOU ARE REPROVED BY HIM;

6FOR THOSE WHOM THE LORD LOVES HE DISCIPLINES,
AND HE SCOURGES EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVES.”

IN THE BALANCE

Hebrews 12:7

It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8 But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. 9Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live? 10 For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness. 11 All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.

THIS IS MY REDEMPTION?

Psalms 34:22

The LORD redeems the soul of His servants,
And none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned.

OR

THE, WHY THIS DESTRUCTION?

Isaiah 8:9

“Be broken, O peoples, and be shattered;
And give ear, all remote places of the earth.
Gird yourselves, yet be shattered;
Gird yourselves, yet be shattered.

IN THE BALANCE

Isaiah8:13

“It is the LORD of hosts whom you should regard as holy.
And He shall be your fear,
And He shall be your dread.

14 “Then He shall become a sanctuary;

WHY AM I CONFRONTED WITH THIS DEATH?

Psalms 18:4

The cords of death encompassed me,
And the torrents of ungodliness terrified me.

5The cords of Sheol surrounded me;
The snares of death confronted me.

WHERE IS MY RESCUE?

Psalms 8:16

In my distress I called upon the LORD,
And cried to my God for help;
He heard my voice out of His temple,
And my cry for help before Him came into His ears.

7Then the earth shook and quaked;
And the foundations of the mountains were trembling
And were shaken, because He was angry.

8Smoke went up out of His nostrils,
And fire from His mouth devoured;
Coals were kindled by it.

9He bowed the heavens also, and came down
With thick darkness under His feet.

10He rode upon a cherub and flew;
And He sped upon the wings of the wind.

11He made darkness His hiding place, His canopy around Him,
Darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies.

12From the brightness before Him passed His thick clouds,
Hailstones and coals of fire.

13The LORD also thundered in the heavens,
And the Most High uttered His voice,
Hailstones and coals of fire.

14He sent out His arrows, and scattered them,
And lightning flashes in abundance, and routed them.

15Then the channels of water appeared,
And the foundations of the world were laid bare
At Your rebuke, O LORD,
At the blast of the breath of Your nostrils.

16He sent from on high, He took me;
He drew me out of many waters.

17He delivered me from my strong enemy,
And from those who hated me, for they were too mighty for me.

18They confronted me in the day of my calamity,
But the LORD was my stay.

19 He brought me forth also into a broad place;

He rescued me, because He delighted in me.

MY REDEMPTION

Psalms 8:20

The LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness;
According to the cleanness of my hands He has recompensed me.

21For I have kept the ways of the LORD,
And have not wickedly departed from my God.

22For all His ordinances were before me,
And I did not put away His statutes from me.

23I was also blameless with Him,
And I kept myself from my iniquity.

24Therefore the LORD has recompensed me according to my righteousness,
According to the cleanness of my hands in His eyes.

IN THE BALANCE

2 Corinthians 5:21

He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

CONCLUSION?

Deuteronomy30:11

“For this commandment which I command you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it out of reach.

12“It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will go up to heaven for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?’

13“Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will cross the sea for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?’

14“But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may observe it.

Choose Life

15 “See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and adversity;

16 in that I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you may live and multiply, and that the LORD your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it.

17 “But if your heart turns away and you will not obey, but are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them,

18 I declare to you today that you shall surely perish

Pray that we remain “In the Bonds” and hear those words “Good and Faithful Servant”.
