OUR FIRST, BEST AND ONLY HOPE
JESUS
I can only imagine the (1), silent applause, (2), the rolling of eyes, and (3), the clueless look on the faces of others after reading the title of this post.
We are living in a world of dangerous extremes. And it would be easier to define the dangerous conditions and situations with which we are faced if it were not multifaceted. It is not simply “us versus them”. It is like some third world nation filled with tribes of fanatics led by maniacal tribal chiefs, plotting, butchering and killing one another.
It has been said that “a house divided against itself cannot stand”, and that is where we find the United States today.
Ironically, this quote originates from the Bible, specifically from the Gospels of Mark, Matthew, and Luke, where it emphasizes the importance of unity and warns against internal conflict leading to destruction. (Abraham Lincoln famously used this phrase in his 1858 speech to highlight the dangers of a nation divided.)
The world into which Jesus was born was fractured and dangerous. A world of extremes. Islam, the great Roman Empire, Judaism, all looking for dominance and willing to kill and die for their goals.
Both little and a lot have changed since that day. These same forces are still seeking dominance in the world, but they have been joined by scores of evil unprincipled and morally corrupt forces who are set on purging the world of standards of good and evil, replacing them with a Pagan and Humanist free-for-all. Subjugating the human race to an elite few, recreating the conditions much like those of ancient humans or even by eradicating the human race altogether. And now the world has the technology for this to happen. (See article on Malthusianism).
The stark truth is that even Christianity and the Bible teach that the world is barreling toward the day of planned and programmed extreme anarchy leading to its destruction. And those behind the curtain, pulling the levers – those creating these conditions – also have a plan to ‘save the world’ from itself, and it is what I have titled “The Reemergence of the Tower of Babel”.
The only good news, if you can call it good news, is that there is a consolidation of political, social and religious factions taking place. It will boil down to a rebellious humankind (Humanism) verses God, and not just any god, but the God of the Bible. The creator of the world and everything in it. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, as the Bible puts it. The God who has repeatedly injected Himself into the affairs of His creation since the beginning. And that day is very near – and is, in fact, at hand.
Which brings us back to our title, “OUR FIRST, BEST AND ONLY HOPE – JESUS”.
The Bible clearly and with great accuracy foretells of this approaching time. And the main character of the Bible, Jesus, explains why He is not only OUR FIRST, AND BEST HOPE, but that His is our ONLY HOPE.
He is both the Great Divider and the Great Uniter. He is the Dividing Line between the Light and the Darkness; between Good and Evil; between eternal Life and eternal Death.
The time is upon us that all evil and all darkness will be vanquished and ‘cast into a lake of eternal fire, where there is wailing and gnashing of teeth’. A time when the people of God will be rescued and will spend eternity in heaven with God.
In the meantime, can we find some kind of peace through unity. Ironically, Jesus said I did not come to bring peace (or unity), but division. He is both the Great Divider and the Great Uniter. He is the Dividing Line between the Light and the Darkness; between Good and Evil; between eternal Life and eternal Death. He and His message is dividing the sheep of God from the goats of the world; the wheat of God from the tares of darkness, wickedness and of evil.
The only unity that leads to life and peace is one established in Christ Jesus.
(The Bible correctly instructs that “those who are living according to their fleshly selfish desires set their minds on the things of the flesh which gratify the body, but those who are living according to the Spirit, set their minds on the things of the Spirit of God, on His will and purpose. Hear this: The mind of the flesh is death both now and forever – because it pursues sin; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace – the spiritual well-being that comes from walking with God – both now and forever.)
The choice, then, is yours. Some say God has already called some to unity in Christ. Others are saying that you must choose unity through Christ Jesus. Some say It is not in the power of humans to make that choice, it is up to God alone. Others say you must make that choice to survive what is coming. Either way, JESUS IS OUR FIRST, BEST AND ONLY HOPE.
(So, imagine if you can, that there really is Heaven, it’s easy if you try. There’s also a hell below us, and above us God’s limitless sky. Imagine all the people just living for That Day.
Imagine all the countries. It isn’t hard to do. It’s what people kill and die for, and for religion, too. Imagine all the people living life in the peace of Christ!
You may say that I’m a dreamer. But I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us, and in Jesus the world will be one.
Imagine your possessions, all coming from Him. No greed or hunger, a brotherhood Christ. Imagine all the people living in His kingdom world.
