THINK ON THIS

THINK ON THIS

No one has ever seen God; the only-begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared him. John 1:18.

Jesus is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. Colossians 1:15

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:9

No one has ever seen God; God is invisible; His thoughts and way are above our thoughts and ways.

So how does an invisible God whose thoughts exceed our ability to understand Him, communicate with lowly humans?

He sent His Son, in our form, as a human being, to not just represent Him but as His exact image and likeness, to speak to us in our limited human languages.

Please be patient here. You cannot see Him. You cannot understand Him. He is, according to the Bible (His breathed word), from far above outer space – in heaven. God is not one of us. He just IS, and He said He created us. He made us what we are, and He is perfecting us to His image. We are in the process of being perfected into His image and likeness so we can dwell with Him in His Heaven, for eternity. (Well, my mind is blown).

And if that is not enough, Jesus said that He has gone to the Father – to “sit at His right Hand” (whatever that means) to intercede for us. And that since He has gone to the Father, we may as whatever we will, and He will do that for us (keep this in the context of His purpose, His Will and His ways). He also said that we would now do the Works that He has done and greater works.

Okay. Okay. Stop. Just stop for a minute. Is this for real?

Yeah. Is this for real? Because He also said that I could “Ask, and it would be given to me; Seek, and I would find; Knock, and the door would be opened to me. (For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or what person is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf of bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? So if you, despite being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!”

Is this is becoming too much? Well, let’s add this to our little fire: Jesus also said that “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, (He cursed it, and it withered because it was not bearing fruit – it had become useless) but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Matthew 21: 21-22.

Okay then. Why don’t I see this happening around me? Why don’t I see this happening in the lives of Christians and in the Church?

(Perhaps you and I are not watching. Or, “You will be ever hearing, but never understanding; you will be ever seeing, but never perceiving.” Matthew 13:14-15. This verse highlights the idea of spiritual blindness and the inability to comprehend the truth.)

Do you know that Jesus had twelve men voluntarily follow Him – “up close and personal” – for about three years? They were subjected to the most strenuous, amazing, miraculous, dangerous training and the most mind-boggling experiences before He released them to represent Him and the Kingdom of God? (And this was not seminary or Bible college. It was O.J.T.)

How about you? When you pray, do you pray that He will allow you to really follow Him – “up close and personal-like”? Or do you follow at a comfortable distance, like the crowds did? Yeah. The crowds that eventually dispersed and left Him?

Let’s please not be like Thomas was a one point, “I will believe it when I see it”. Plenty of folks “saw it” but still did not believe. Some even called the works of Jesus, demonic.

But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. We will endeavor to do and practice those things He told us:

        • Worship and serve the Lord your God, only.
        • Be kind to one another (Christians).
        • Do not return evil for evil, but return good.
        • Lay hands on the sick.
        • Pray at all times.
        • Endure to the end.
        • Be filled with the Holy Spirit His Gifts.
        • Express the fruit of love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, patience, long-suffering and self-control.
        • Go and make disciples, teaching all that He has commanded, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
        • Give (and it will be given to you – good measure, pressed down and running over – others will pour into your lap).
        • “Tell that mountain to be moved”.
        • “Ask, Seek and Knock”.
        • “Have faith” – even the size of a mustard seed.
        • “Ask in faith – believing”.
        • Rejoice always – give thanks in all things.
        • Whatever is good, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good report, think on these things and the peace which passes understand will guard your heart and mind.
        • (And so forth as you go forth).

Your Brother and Friend,

Mike Young.

PS: And, oh yes. It is real.
