HERE IS SOMETHING INTERESTING – “WHAT WAS, NOW IS, AND FOREVERMORE SHALL BE”

WHAT WAS, NOW IS, AND FOREVERMORE SHALL BE

God’s Word Is Eternal

God’s actions are eternal and unchangeable, instilling awe, fear and reverence.

Ecclesiastes 3:14, I know that everything God does will remain forever; there is nothing to add to it and there is nothing to take from it. And God has so worked, that people will fear Him.

Thus, What Was:

Genesis 6:5, the LORD saw that the wickedness of mankind was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of their hearts was only evil continually. Verse 6. So the LORD was sorry that He had made mankind on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. Verse 7. Then the LORD said, “I will wipe out mankind whom I have created from the face of the land; mankind, and animals as well, and crawling things, and the birds of the sky. For I am sorry that I have made them.”

Verse 11. Now the earth was corrupt in the sight of God, and the earth was filled with violence. Verse 12. And God looked on the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for humanity had corrupted its way upon the earth.

Thus, What Is:

2 Timothy 3:1-5, Realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. Verse 2. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, verse 3, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, [a]haters of good, verse 4, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, Verse 5. holding to a form of godliness although they have denied its power; avoid such people as these.

Thus, Forever Shall Be:

Malachi 4:1, “For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble. The day that is coming shall set them ablaze, says the Lord of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch.

2 Peter 3:7, But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

2 Peter 3:10, But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.

There are many who are saying that these things are fables from an ancient people and that they are not true. They are terribly misinformed and ignorant of the facts. Yes, facts.

It is an interesting fact that the verbs used in eschatological matters mentioned in the New Testament (the Book of Matthew in particular) are usually phrased in the future tense. (Matthew 24:6 as just one of several examples, “And you will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars).

However, in correlating verses from the Book of The Revelation are in theaorist tense’which is characterized by its emphasis on punctiliar action; that is, the concept of the verb is considered without regard for past, present, or future time. I.e., past, present and future time is simultaneous – as it was, it now is and shall continue to be so; Revelation 6:1, “Then I saw when the Lamb broke one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying as with a voice of thunder, “Come!” The significance of these verb tenses is that ‘in God’s timeframe’ what has been foretold or prophesied has already come to pass. We are in a linear timeline, so we must wait for these actions to occur.

Modern science and Quantum Mechanics in particular seems to support the Bible in this matter and may in fact be catching up with the Bible on these matters. Classical philosophy has said that time is divided into three distinct regions: the “past”, the “present”, and the “future”. Science is now telling us that through quantum mechanic’s philosophy of ‘eternalism’ posits that all points in time, past, present, and future, are equally real, even though humans perceive time as linear. This view is supported by some interpretations of relativity, which challenge the notion of absolute simultaneity.

Although, for the Christian, this is a matter of faith and trust in the Word of God, it lends a interesting dynamic.

For the non-Christian, those who do not believe the Bible is inerrant and dependable, this should be a caution to them, for as the things mentioned early in this article most certainly spell their ultimate doom and the only escape in by God’s gracious offer of salvation (an escape from the coming Messianic judgements) for those who will believe and confess the Name of Jesus the Christ.
