Life Outside the Boat

“So, Peter got out of the boat and

walked on the water and

came to Jesus.”

Matthew 14:23

Do you want to have some fun and, maybe, just maybe, be amazed?

Think about that partial verse for for a minute. In fact, break it down this way…

“…So, Peter got out of the boat…”

Now, the Bible says he was in deep waters, and the boat by this time was a long way from the land, beaten by the waves, for the wind was against them. And it was in the fourth watch of the night which is between 3 AM and 6 AM, in other words IT IS DARK.

“…So, Peter got out of the boat…”

Imagine for a minute, that this is YOU and YOU got out of the boat with Peter.

I would have to ask, “Are you nuts”? It’s dark, windy, stormy, deep waters battering the boat, and you step out into that?

“…and walked on the water…”

And Peter actually walked on the water! Can you imagine what that must have felt like? Again, it’s dark, windy, stormy and the water, the waves, under your feet are moving up and down, and the waters is splashing on you.

“…and (Peter) came to Jesus…”

Too often, when this event is recounted, the focus is on Peter sinking a few seconds later and how he took his eyes off of Jesus or perhaps he would not have sunk and the “morals of the story” or the lessons to be learned are “Keep your eyes on Jesus”, etc.

BUT WAIT A MINUTE – – – PETER GOT OUT OF THE BOAT AND WALKED ON THE WATER AND CAME TO JESUS!

  • How many others in the Bible did such a thing? NONE!

  • How many others anyplace have done such a thing? NONE!

  • When was the last time YOU did such a thing???

Why are we always look to the failures?

Why are we always looking to the ‘cautions’?

*GET OUT OF THE BOAT,
*WALK ON THE WATER,
*AND COME TO JESUS!
