1st Peter 1
Do Not Be Conformed
Be Transformed

God’s call “to prepare our minds for action” requires that we, as obedient children, break off with this world, everything we have been taught, everything we have seen, touched and learned. everything we have come to understand as right outside of His Word and His Teaching, must be discarded. It must be, in fact, eradicated from our minds and lives.

He calls our life, which we must obliterate, “former lusts”. While we have always thought we have been learned what is necessary to live, Peter says our knowledge and understand “were yours in ignorance”.

You must not be conformed to this world. But, you must be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Then, and only then, will you be able to demonstrate what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”

1 Peter 1:15 but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; v16 because it is written, “YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY.”

1 Peter 1:15 gives the final mandate, “but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior”. We are told we must be set apart for God’s use. We must be as focused as Jesus is focused. He came only to do His Father’s Will and His Father’s Business, a humanly impossible task.

An Impossible task, indeed

But, as Jesus has told us, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:24
