THREE in Prophecy

“THE IMPORTANCE OF THREE IN PROPHECY”

There are many examples of ‘threes’ in the Bible. But none more important than The Trinity.

The “Three” of God –

  • The Father,
  • The Son,
  • The Holy Spirit

And, God made man in His image…

“The Three” of Man –

  • Body,
  • Soul,
  • Spirit

Then there is the overlooked or little recognized…

“The Three” of Teaching & Learning –

  • The Cognitive Teaching/Learning,
  • Teaching/Learning of the soul, (mind, will, emotions),
  • Teaching/Learning of the spirit.

Deuteronomy 6:5 illustrates the THREE OF LEARNING/TEACHING, “You shall love the LORD your God (1) with all your heart and (2) with all your soul and (3) with all your might.

INSIDE – OUT

  • (1) with all your heart and (LEB- soul, conscience, seat of emotions, appetites, passions, courage.)
  • (2) with all your soul and (NEPHESH – activity of the mind, will, breathing substance)
  • (3) with all your might. (M’OD – physical force, body)

1 John also illustrates this point. Note that

(1)- is the physical aspect of a person;

(2) is the soul or psyche aspect of a person;

(3) is the spirit aspect of a person

verse 1 “What was from the beginning, what we (1) have heard, what we (2) have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and (3) touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life —

verse 2 and the (1) life was manifested, and (2) we have seen and (3) testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us —

verse 3 (1) what we have seen and (2) heard(3) we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.

Again and again, we see the THREE OF TEACHING and LEARNING

  • (1) have heard, what we
  • (2) have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and
  • (3) touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life
  • (1) life was manifested, and
  • (2) we have seen and
  • (3) testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us —
  • (1) what we have seen and
  • (2) heard
  • (3) we proclaim

Which leads us to

The Three of Prophecy

(1) Past, (2) Present and (3) Future.

“The Three” of Prophecy –

Luke24:44 “Now He said to them, “These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me (1) in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45 Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46and He said to them, (2) “Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, 47 and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 “You are witnesses of these things. 49“And behold, (3) I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”

  • PAST – (1) while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”
  • PRESENT – (2) Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. “You are witnesses of these things. “And behold,
  • FUTURE – (3) I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”

Romans 16:25 Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to (1) the revelation of the mystery which has been kept secret for long ages past, 26 (2) but now is manifested, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, has been made known to all the nations, (3) leading to obedience of faith; 27to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be the glory forever. Amen.”

  • PAST (1) the revelation of the mystery which has been kept secret for long ages past,
  • PRESENT (2) but now is manifested, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, has been made known to all the nations,
  • FUTURE (3) leading to obedience of faith; to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be the glory forever.

PAST to PRESENT to FUTURE

NOTE: To adequately understand Prophetic Scriptures,

“You must look back

in order to

look forward”!

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God,

who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Revelation 1:8

The Book of Revelation, is translated from the word “Apokalypsis” or The Apocalypse. Revelation is an apocalyptic prophecy with an introduction addressed to seven churches in the Roman province of Asia.

“Apocalypse” means the revealing of divine mysteries; John is to write down what is revealed (what he sees in his vision) and send it to the seven churches. The entire book constitutes the letter—the letters to the seven individual churches are introductions to the rest of the book, which is addressed to all seven. While the dominant genre is apocalyptic, the author sees himself as a Christian prophet:

Now, “What must we DO with what we Know”? Jesus, in the Book of Revelation, teaches that WE MUST OVERCOME:

In the Book of The Revelation, Jesus tells us, the Churches that until the breaking of the 6th Tribulation Seal, the Church (you and I) must OVERCOME.

This term, “OVERCOMES”, is used 7 times in Revelation chapters 2 and 3. (Revelation 2:7, 11, 17, 26, Revelation 3:5, 12, 21)
