I’ll Believe it when…

“Oh, Yeah? Well, I’ll believe it when I see it!”

Spiritual law dictates that all of existence flows from Higher to Lower. Everything that IS seen comes from what is Unseen. All of existence comes from God. The “lower” never dictates to the Higher.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.” John 1:1-2

Neither can the Physical transcend the Spiritual.

“But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.” 1 Corinthians 2:14

To understand and grasp the deepest meaning of these verses, the disciple of Jesus must be able to see beyond the natural and peer beyond the veil. Then and only then will we be able to fully “walk in the works which He prepared ahead of time”.

“For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known.” 1 Corinthians 13:12

These Spiritual Truths or Spiritual Laws are invoilable for the disciple who would have the mind of Christ and faithfully follow our Master.

Today, Utmost.org (Oswald Chambers) offers this challenge: “the real meaning of filling “up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ…” (Colossians 1:24). A disciple realizes that it is his Lord’s honor that is at stake in his life, not his own honor.

“Never look for righteousness in the other person, but never cease to be righteous yourself. We are always looking for justice, yet the essence of the teaching of the Sermon on the Mount is— Never look for justice, but never cease to give it.”

The practice of the of the spiritual discipline as offered by Oswald Chambers, is the “finished product”, of a deeper Spiritual Truth (Law). Until one understands this Truth and is controlled by the Spirit of God, the outcome can only be by man’s efforts, which in the long run, at best, are temporary and will rust, rot and decay, and at worst are doomed to fail immediately.

Look at it this by way of this powerful metaphor:

“And someone came to Him and said, “Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?”

And He said to him, “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.”

Then the man *said to Jesus, “Which ones?”

And Jesus said, “You shall not commit murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; Honor your father and mother; and You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

The young man *said to Him, “All these things I have kept; what am I still lacking?”

Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

But when the young man heard this statement, he went away grieving; for he was one who owned much property.

And Jesus said to His disciples, “Truly I say to you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

When the disciples heard this, they were very astonished and said, “Then who can be saved?”

And looking at them Jesus said to them, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:16 – 26

We must stand on the Spiritual Basis

The Word of God, The Spirit of God, The Son of God.

This is why the Bible tells us that sin separates us from God. This is not a practical or natural event or a natural law. It is Spiritual. And when we are separate from God, we are impotent and exposed to all sorts of dangers.

This is why we are told that the penalty of sin is death.

We are to avoid this fatality by “Abiding in Him” and “Walking in the Spirit”.

But, the Spirit of God is Life and Peace and THE MIND SET ON THE SPIRIT IS LIFE AND PEACE. (Romans 8:6)

THESE WORDS, THESE TRUTHS, THESE SPIRITUAL LAWS are not “a practical guide to Christian living”. They are THE WORDS OF LIFE, OF POWER AND OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD.

Please understand them as such, and seek desperately for their meaning and application and you will never, ever, be the same again.

And, when we do this, the world grows strangely dim and the Glorious Light of God bursts through and fills our mind and our bodies as we are truly transformed ever closer to the image of our Lord.

As the old saying goes, “I’ll see it when I believe it”.
